Failed Marriages

Wedding vows,
At a time long gone.
When two promised to love and obey.
While the groom cried to know,
Forever keeping his peace...
Would be gone to go.

As the bride with veiled eyes,
Including her face.
And body covered in white from head to toe.
Knew those listening,
Enjoyed the ceremony and the smiling bride...
Performing to deliver,
An unforgettable show!

Even though both bride and groom,
Should have said, 'Oh, no!'
Instead of 'I do'!
To turn their backs on each other,
And immediately left the room.
Or wherever the farce takes place.

Few marriages these days,
Stay that way forever after in bliss.
Without alcohol or medications taken.
People know that.
Before they begin to wrap gifts.
And the ones who benefit,
From failed marriages like this?
Go to a wedding and observe,
The invited witnesses.
Gazing upon the movements,
Of those deluded to fiction themselves...
In a fairytale.
Masquerading to be,
Prince Charming and Cinderella.
Twiring around at some fancy ball.
Before midnight strikes.

Often someone is a lawyer.
Taking notes.
Someone at these weddings is an ex-lover.
Of either bride or groom or both.
Crying the loudest.
And hoping a check given doesn't bounce.

And sitting with arms folded,
In these times we live.
Are family, friends and neighbors.
Doing the best they can,
To keep their mouths closed tight.
Wishing not to laugh hysterically.

Knowing both bride and groom,
Had discreetly kept secrets...
Of meeting frequently to visit,
To have same sex relationships.
People may pretend stupidity.
However...
Noses are seldom,
That far away from having them stuck up,
Business of others.

And these are the days and times we live.
No one should wonder or question to ask...
Why a perfect looking couple,
Posing publicly to give images to value...
Could accuse one another of cheating.
Or...
For being abusive and lieing to deceive.
When whoever agreed,
To marry these folks.
Heard both at a local bar,
Discussing gifts they will receive.
To then meet up at a later date,
In another state to divide...
Money they've made.
Done to do to pay for a lavish ceremony.
But could not stay to be observed,
By lovers, ex-roomates and others...
Knowing them to be fools.
Both bride and groom.
Making a huge mistake at their expense.
Although the gossip spread to hear it,
Is priceless entertainment.
Kept to keep the way it is.

'No one these days,
Would dare do something like that!
And not stay to finish the wedding ceremony!'

Innocence and pretentions.

People today don't get married for love.
Devotion, love or forever in bliss ecstacy.
It's about pleasure and quick satisfaction.
There is not a lawyer around,
Claiming to do anything possible...
Within his power to close a bank account,
If necessary.
Done to save a failed marriage.
Today?
It would be easier for anyone,
To find a skilled lawyer than a doctor...
Saying to a patient,
Exactly how to cure and mend their ailments!
Lawyers are after quick cash to get it fast.
Doctors?
Are accustomed,
To prolong a patient's agony.
Then refer the same patient to other doctors.'

'Refer?
Refer to other doctors for what?'

'To share in the profits.
And ensure quotas are made to please,
Whoever it may be selected...
To keep the institution thriving!'

'That's not true.
They follow an oath.
A hypocratic oath they call it!
Spelled with two 'Ps'

Hypocrisy?
Without adding another 'P',
The meaning of it still remains the same.'
