dust bowl metropolis

 the  dust-bowl  metropolis of   life
smoked   filled   cites  of   deceit  and   strife
rivers   of   demolition
derelict   abandoned  buildings
empty   cathedrals

dead   end  streets
no  miracles

sheep  like   cattle
an   constant   battle
no sanctuary

a  short   distance  away
an   landscape  of   blue  indigo   skies
rolling    undulating   hills
clear   water   streams
gold   ribbon   horizon

i  traverse  the   green   verdant   fields
stone   pebble   beaches
searching

hostile   voices  reside  in  my   head
clattering  like   wild   horses   in   the   wind
the  silent   sound   of   breaking   glass   beneath
shattering   my   belief

altered   images  appear   infront  of   me
there   is  no   escape
a prisoner   of   my   own   mind

no  relief   from   the   insanity
an  surreal  world   of  elephants   reflecting  swans

my   memories   criss-cross   the   future
no   looking   back
i  take   shelter   from   the   storm

stampeding  seas
an  treacherous  incoming   tide

attacks   from  all   sides
high    tides   of  anxiety
an   unfolding   of   reality

a   blank   canvas
white   parallel   lines

a  defining   moment
 the   heavy   rain  subsides
clouds   blossom   like  orchids

i  hide   behind  my   fractured   disfigured face
no  trace   of   a   smile
as  both    of   my   worlds   collide
i  take  shelter   from   the  storm

sunbeams  of   moonlight   rise  from   the   heavens
a   new   dawn  before   me
