Fractured Unity

Zealous Frank 2000 (Nigeria)

Our Family is torn and broken,
Losses - measured in multiple.
The signal was given; though morbid
It smoke, we blatantly disregard.

Who wrote our script?
Who changed the story?
Who is the real enemy? The devil?
Or is it our ignorance playing the antagonist?

We were once in unity, were we?
Insecurity grew its seed in our midst,
Yet we fed and watered it...
While we focus on the imaginary.

We are all at fault,
Our relationship - a myth
Money was the only link
Religion; a pastime for others to see.

Which is the family?
The topic is far from lucid.
A regret-filled coffin placed in our midst
Laissez-faire; our latest maxim.

The scenes are too long to view,
But the ending is not yet written.
A conscious effort is needed on our end,
If we are to eulogize our fallen hero.
