Untitled

Annie Perry 1972 (San Francisco)

September 23

In all the love poems and great books
That hold us with their truths
There could never be a writer
If they didn't have a muse

You spark my inspiration
And capture my desire
As I seek the lines and passages
that fill my heart with fire

My words they might be clumsy
Foolish,  somehow wrong
Yet , I write
Stay the course and carry on.

For you,  my love,
Are my story
My poem
And my song.

A lovely poem wherein the belovéd becomes the poet’s Muse. Nicely written, carries my mind to “The Songs of Solomon”, and reminds me of deep poetic love as that shared between Elizabeth Barrett Browning and her love, Robert.
