The time was not on our side

Lovers long since gone, who died in love entwined,
A story that the ages haven't erased from time.
The love they had so strong and yet unseen,
Was extraordinary, a living tapestry of dreams.

A tragedy that came to take away their joy,
As fate refused to give them anything but sorrow.
Their intertwined hearts beating only one last time,
As they passed to eternity, leaving love as their final sign.

Though no one can know how long their love could have lasted,
It was two souls connected until the very last.
Two hearts that beat as one, all without a sound,
Until, together, they were laid six feet beneath the ground.

Lovers from the past who found eternal peace,
Now residing in the arms of our memories.
