The Journey

Memory Lane;
 A path many choose not to remember,
 OH! The journey out of Africa;
 A misery to recall.

 Visas are celebrated to whom have gotten;
merry is made,
Those with no opportunities;
take the death route…

 The government failed us,
 They lied to Us and never kept their promises,
 The strong and fearless take the step,
 with two choices;
To get there or never!!

 I set for the dessert;
 a land lifeless and void...
 The breeze blows ill and lying carcass of humans I see around;
The sun scrape my skin,
 my soul burns;
my feet tremble,
 thirst is here.
 Many hydrated from their Excrete;
 I almost lost hope,
 I survived the desert.

 At the sea;
 it was terrible,
When the sea is angry,
It eats humans up I prayed to God;
To safe me.....

Rescue was fast;
God saved me,
kept in the camp,
a place to paint a better picture of my life,
 from my fatherland;
 to an unknown land,
 I made it.
 Language, racism and no regards for my educational achievement and many more I faced,
 those values won't put me down,
 As I look forward to a better life.

About this poem

This poem tells the sad migration story of my lover from the coast of Africa to Europe [which is considered an unknown land far away from our fatherland] .
