Suitors

They come in waves with their sirens,
Whining in our ears,
Denying our tired souls of seamless sleep.
Ceaselessly serenading our ears with annoying noises,
Unrepentant blood suckers,
Am I a bride to be courted and bled?
Flies that fill us with lust for blood,
Lust for their blood.
All around us with their bloated bellies,
Constantly demanding our ovation,
They are a drain on any nation.
I speak of mosquitoes,
Ditto POLI-Thief-CIANS.

About this poem

I wrote this poem because of the dearth of quality leadership in my country: a scourge we have suffered for so many years. It's a plague shared by many, and I hope my thoughts resonate.
