Reflections

Do you know how much I cherish that evening? How I attempt to relive in my mind each moment? Does  it ever cross your mind...
Anyone who saw us could have easily assumed we were a "couple".  We shared food, drinks, and our faces were in close proximity when we spoke. I offered you my drink. You answered "anything for you". When I didn't respond right away, you repeated "anything for you".
My heart was full from your attention, and I resolved to not let the evening end without my lips touching your cheek. Surely, you won't mind and it won't raise suspicion from those around us. Friends kiss.
You were leaning against the wall, and when our eyes met, you smiled widely and walked toward me. We wrapped our arms around each other. I whispered in your ear "thank you" and touched my lips to your cheek. As we began to pull away, you leaned in and brushed your lips against mine. Only a moment, just a brief moment, but a memory to last a lifetime. I had not felt such elation since I was a girl of 16.
In the days and weeks ahead, I glowed in the warmth of that memory.
As time goes on, the memory has faded and the details have become vague, but I try to capture them before they slip away from me.
Does it ever cross your mind....
