I thought I had a friend

Unathi Thole 2009 (Gauteng)

I thought I had a friend
But only to find out
She talks behind my back
Saying I'm a fake friend
She's done a lot for me
And I could say I tried
I tried putting in effort
But still
I was still called a fake friend
Again
Again
And Again
I let it slide
While knowing it hurts
I thought I had a friend
But no I had a snake pet
Which I loved
But
I didn't know
It would just turn its back on me
Which hugged me tight
Just to finish me off
My heart teared to pieces
Not just apart
Pieces
I found myself crying
Yes I cried
I laughed
And saw how stupid I was
I thought I had a knife
For slicing bread
Chopping veggies and stuff
But I ended up cutting myself with that knife
Ended up Chopping onions
Just to see my tears drop a deadbeat
For a moment I thought
I have
I thought
I had
But no
Those were only imaginations
Actually they were memories
That were made
And that will always
And I mean always flashback
Every second
I think about
What I thought I had
