Daddy Issues

Little girls grow up to be women.

Yes, even the one's dressed in linen.

Spitting image in every mother's eye,

But when I think of daddy, I take a sigh and cry.

Our first love they said he'd be.

Deep down, I felt as though my daddy always hated me.

Time and time again, I tried to make him proud,

Then Daddy said I was trying to please the crowd.
 
This little girl once picked bad men.

Because her daddy never took the time to be her friend.

I never knew how to pick a man.

Because my daddy was never my friend.

My begging and pleading fell on deaf ears,

I'll never forget it, year after year.

My whole life, I never felt enough.

Probably because my daddy said that once.

A woman self-image comes from that very one.

From the one that held her when she was one.

The one she'll call Daddy someday.

Even walk her down the aisle one day.

If she not knew what is a man

Then she'll fall down on both her hands.

She'll beg and plead for almost any man

That gives her that one little chance.

So please just take three steps back, breathe in and just relax.

Your little girl should be your world.

Because if you give it to that guy

Your little girl is soon to find

He'll be the apple of her eye.

Then she can no longer lie.

She'll just grab a tissue,

Then tell her new daddy about her daddy issues.
