How The Salt Burns My Skin

I float confused on this tumbling sea,
With thunder rumbling, grumbling, and howling at me.
My wounds sharply burn as the salt begins to cure them.
I try to keep my head up but I fear I am condemned.
And oh, how the salt burns my skin

My eyes begin to blur as my limbs grow cold.
And how my frail conscience is beginning to fold.
The betrayal of my own has penetrated my spirit,
The meaningless betrayal of my nearest dearest friend.
And oh, how the salt burns my skin.

One moment I sit and I hold her to me,
The warmth that we shared, how it coursed through me.
The next moment, all I feel is her knife in my chest,
The warmth of my blood as it soaks through my vest.
And oh, how the knife cut my skin.

Away I am thrown, into the raging sea.
Her face twisting, contorting, and filling with hate.
I struck the water, which matched her fury,
And threw me, tossed me until my sense was lost.
And oh, how the salt burns my skin.
