Natures gift
Charles Fields II 1955 (Fort Bragg, NC)
Something alive and new
Enters the scene for the very first time
Whether from a brief amorous encounter
Loving feelings nurtured with great care or not
As we are By nature inclined
On our collective journey through times
Drifting purposely along our pathway
As the oceans of the universe, flow
Carry us in the eddies
Oblivious of its temporal shift
As we spend our lifetimes
As mere sparks among tides of matter
Which come and go Thought to us Seem
As infinite as suns We call stars
Herd planetary systems of matter
In what may seem like To us
To be aimlessly scattered
In truth only seeds planted
By the eternals perfectly balanced
Miraculous design
As we gape in awe at the nature of things
We cannot ever quite understand
Because our reference points
Are hopelessly distant
From the grasp of our abilities
To pinpoint get the gist
Insightful, understandings
Instead of the usual Careless charge
Into the unknown Despite the risk
Of uncovering something
Which holds ominous consequences
Bearing swift judgment with often
Terribly disastrous returns
On this colony ship of mankind.
Like a candle Burning flesh for insight
True to course No doubt trials of heavenly design
Here between star fields As our lives are played
On this eternal stage Where fortunes rise and fall
Is this a dream?
From where such small beginnings
Infinitive wonders have grown
A small package Of wants and needs
with watchful eyes and expressive smiles
Whether we imagine he or she
Looks more like you or me
Does things characteristic
of someone we all know
And somehow Seem to agree
This fountain of joy continues to grow
into someone like us
As if we didn’t know This is the test
Each one continues the climb
From the first day we draw breath
until the last
This is life’s challenge
To prepare, each one
As from one to another
Prepares the path
For the next
As we Do our best
A gift from the eternal ONE
Now makes each dwelling place A HOME
Ensue presenting pleasant vistas
Hidden treasures scattered/Found
along the path
where the life force is strong
along this journey Life
Deeper still
Than moments of perception
Where lovers pause to reflect
Briefly connect fertile minds and bodies
Diving into eternal pools
Each of us occupy briefly As we live
Bearing essence of being
in oceans of living matter
People who care Projecting of its truth
Rather than merely talking about Jesus
Provide loving proof Exemplify Enhance
The gift of life Another chance for humanity
wholeheartedly loving one another
A blessed testing, 1,2, 3 Who are we?
Those Gifted of the Creator
not only to wear the crown
Bear the seed
Raise the new breed
Being far beyond shallow puddles
Those whose passions lie
Merely in games
purely pursuing pleasure
Yes life is such a dance
And those by whose dalliances bear fruit
leaving trails of babies
While playing through Through nature’s chain
Leaving nothing left to chance
All to nothingness adrift
Of love seeds planted Not random
Yet freely sown Without a second thought
A prelude to romance?
Or a shot Fallen in the weeds
Steadfastly undertaken
But seldom followed
Through*
