My Gray Little World

It's cold here, not freezing but the air reminds me of Christmas, sweet like ice cream, yet warm like a kiss from a snowman. The snow looks like little sparkles dancing in the atmosphere. I walk down the path admiring the icicles hanging from the trees which hold fruits the color of sea glass with iridescent scarlet centers that seem to pulsate like they're breathing. I sit on a bench, watching the scene - little squirrels gathering acorns for their harvest, storing them in their cheeks, excited to get home to their families. A cardinal sits atop a lamppost, just sitting, almost like he's waiting for something to happen. I sit and wait. Something big is about to happen, I can feel it in my bones. The hairs on the back of my neck stand straight up. I smile, knowingly. The smell in the air changes. The cardinal changes his position and looks toward something unseen. Clip clop clip clop clip clop - horse and carriage...at this hour? My heart stops....
Here's to my dreams COMING TRUE
