Moonlight Sonata

The stars dance; they taunt me
The moon stares; it won't blink
Crickets chirp; cackling in amusement
It’s my moonlight sonata
My personal symphony, playing just for me
The mood is haunting and the sound is eerie
But they're playing for me! My symphony!
My out-of-touch reality
Breath by breath, gasp by gasp
I stagger while those stars dance
Drip by drip, flow after flow
I stumble as that moon glows
Drop by drop, trailing
I bleed, the crickets following
My symphony plays just for me
It seems no one else can hear; see
The stars fell and I held to the moon
Crickets play my sonata, my moonlight

About this poem

I wrote this when I was 14 and during a full moon. I lived for the moon. I've since grown apart from things that are witchy and weird but at that time, for the years I was in high school, the moon was my comforter.
