Emily D. and Poetry

Miss Emily wrote carefully
Her poems in the night.
And many were conceived by her
In rooms without much light.

When poems said words in her head,
She sometimes would then choose
Such words like I and me and my;
Not trying to confuse.

Some readers say she wrote that way
To talk about herself,
But she said no.  It isn't so.
It's not about myself.
