More than Pain, more than mental health

Head beating, hands shaking.
Staring at this page, blank and empty.
“You will never be who you wish to be”
No! I scream internally, I am more than my pain

Staring at this page, heart racing tears falling.
Thinking about how to say, the emotions in my brain.
“You will never keep up, you will fail”

I stare at this page, thinking in anguish.

Silence! I scream internally and stop listening.

I am more than a number, I am more than my pain.
Too many people have poured into me…
I can’t fall now, I will not fail.
I refuse to accept that I am not equal to my peers.

Too many have helped me progress,
Professors and doctors alike…
My chosen Family…
Too much is at stake for me to give up.

No, I am not just my mental health
I am myself.

I am skilled beyond my age,
So much so that I have left some Professors and Doctors in awe.
I am myself. No one else.
