Pestilence

Pestilence

By John Mellott

I rot from the flesh and dine on greed.
Yet your money can't buy me or my reprieve
The pale horse I ride was blindfolded by me,
to ride through the fires of justice unseen.
You've sacrificed many, the innocent ones.
Feasting on children, and silencing tongues.
Thinking you would share in my evil delight
but you will soon see, you're just pawns in this fight.
The stench of your souls as they ripen the fire
with each of your screams the pillars grow higher.
Your greed for power was part of my plan
as the innocents blood, unshackled my hands.
Now no longer needed, I delight in your pain
my betrayal plays over and over again.
The minions you left me and those full of hate
will bask in my glory and rejoice at your fate,
To them I'm the savior, proclaimed to return
they don't understand I'm not what they yearn.
I will use them to strengthen the army I'll need.
And those who won't follow, will die on their knees.
The Pestilence I am,  for all to see
these humans he loves, I bring them disease.
Before I spread evil across all the land
I'll let peace flow freely as long as it can.
I will sort out the people who do not belong,
and hold all the others, so my army grows strong.
You tossed out your history, the things you disliked
you repeat those lost lessons, all to my delight.
Death and destruction to them and to those
who is left standing.
only he  will know.
