Mazes of the Mind

Mary Mendoza 1963 (Florida)

Mazes of the Mind

Billions of neurons encapsulate my mind.
Complex memories have no place to hide.
Flashback brings my first love to life.
I can see the first time his eyes met mine.
And feel him smiling back at me.
I was fifteen and fell in love instantly.
Thirty years, I still sense his scent.
Bittersweet memory for my love is gone.
The mazes of my mind play tricks on me.
Treasured memories buried deep within.
Taking me to a place I once was, and yet can’t be.
The mazes of my mind that erases time-
With just a blink of an eye.
