Dads construction

As I slide into the darkness a place that is well known,
I remember the words you spoke and they cut me to the bone.
A red hot tear burns my face as it falls down,
And I feel despair run through me as you treat me like a clown.

I ask myself some questions, they whirl around my mind,
Why couldn't you just love me, why couldn't you be kind?

Will this torment ever cease to scorch me like red flames,
I feel the anger rising and I can't help but carry shame,
The way you goad and tease me to the point of self destruction,
A little girl whose self esteem depends on your construction

I ask myself more questions, repeating in my head,
When will you come to see me and tuck me up in bed?

I see you and I cringe inside, my heart it turns so cold,
You didn't accept me and take me into your fold,
I blame myself and cry at night, wondering what I did wrong,
My daddy doesn't love me and I feel I don't belong.
