Ciggarette Breaths

Life is like a ciggarette

A wickless candle of malcontent
Unquenchable feelings until last breaths are
drawn

It dawns upon him
his hollow strolling, without one single thought
to exist, from zero to hero, from one to naught

a decision to stand still breathe in, release the stress
a lifelong debt by step by step
a bare prison, a trap by design
Fueled by that to which we are inclined.

Are we not all drawing limited breaths?
until our white and brown candle, our cordless fret
filtered for fleeting beauty, relief
that is only brought fully by peace,
Death.

About this poem

The poem illustrated a moment in my life in which Nihilism and existential dread took over my thought. It tries to shed light on the darkness of some moments in our life but also our relationship with death and life.
