A Summer's End

Amidst the amber hues of fading light,
As summer's end approaches, a tender sight,
A symphony of softness in the breeze,
Announces autumn's arrival with graceful ease.

The sun, once fierce, now wears a weary smile,
Its golden touch invoking memories aisle by aisle,
And as the days grow shorter, shadows weep,
A wistful longing stirs from its peaceful sleep.

The meadows, once adorned in vibrant bloom,
Trade their colors for a more subdued costume,
Yet in this twilight's melancholic song,
A whispered promise of resilience prolongs.

Each sunset guards the secrets of the year,
In fiery shades, laughter and shedding tears,
They blend into the canvas of the skies,
A mural of human stories that never dies.

The children's laughter, like a distant bell,
Ripples through time's tapestry, an enchanting spell,
Of carefree days beneath the boundless sky,
Oh, how swiftly did those moments fly.

So raise a glass to summer's fleeting grace,
Its sunlit moments woven into every place,
For even as it surrenders to the night,
Its essence dances on in our hearts' light.

Now let the tapestry of seasons blend,
As summer's echo yields to what's 'round the bend,
And though it ends, a trace of it remains,
In whispered winds that carry life's refrains.

Pleasant poem with an enviable use of vocabulary. I find it unfortunate this failed to garner much acclaim but it speaks to what is, of more relevancy to the ever-changing, monthly judges. This poet has got the goods!
