A Sudden Morning

I woke up crying today
and I'm not sure why.
Maybe it's the turning
of the seasons,
or the condensation of a year.
Or perhaps, there's just no reason
I think maybe
that's my greatest fear.

I feel not unlike
the waning autumn leaves
Who
, in falling to the ground,
are victimed
by the changing of the world around.

And I imagine
that they too
are crying,
In their own
imperceivable
ways of existing

About this poem

This poem I'm my attempt at expressing the quiet type of sadness that can sometimes arise from the routine passing of time. I hope to convey the existential feeling of pain without meaning and how that can affect our sense of agency.
