A Beautiful Winter
Kayla Johnson 2003 (Jacksonville)
In a palette of ivory so pristine,
A tapestry woven 'midst nature's serene,
Winter arrives with a graceful embrace,
Bestowing upon the land a tranquil grace.
With icy tendrils, it paints the scene,
A maestro of frost, of ethereal sheen,
From snow-laden branches, whispers do fall,
A symphony, enchanting, delights one and all.
A delicate hush blankets the earth,
As flora and fauna find renewed worth,
The crackling silence beneath snowy veils,
Tells tales of endurance, resilience prevails.
Yet, Winter, a poet with words unsung,
Of stillness and patience, its verses strung,
In each fleeting breath of chilled air's embrace,
Wisdom emerges, a testament of grace.
The dance of the snowflakes, an elegant lore,
Each fragile design, unique and adore,
As they twirl and they twinkle, in gentle descent,
A ballet of beauty, frozen sentiment.
In this icy kingdom, where dreams are born,
The hearth of our spirits, takes joyous form,
Gathered 'round firesides, love's embers aglow,
We find solace in kinship, in hearts all aglow.
With mittened hands and boots marching forth,
We embrace the cold winds, traverse frozen North,
For Winter, a guide through this frozen maze,
Challenging our spirits, in majestic ways.
In endless nights, where stars brightly gleam,
We ponder life's meaning, dreams that we deem,
For Winter implores us to delve deep within,
Discover our essence, our souls to rescind.
For underneath blankets of snow, we find,
A world full of magic, our spirits entwined,
Through quiet contemplation and nature's call,
Winter, a companion, reminds us to enthrall.
So let's raise our voices, and sing of this time,
When frost paints our windows, hearts intertwine,
Winter, a gentle reminder to hold tight and embrace,
The beauty in moments, eternally grace.
