Frivolous, Mundane And Ridiculous

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Trivial it is to compare,
The increase of wages paid.
To the health of a booming economy.
Existing on debts credited to delusions.
Remaining to stay on display everyday.

No one today is heard to hear say,
They are hoping to wish becoming...
Wealthy and noticeably rich.
With a portfolio of investments to make,
The elite envious and jealous.
While daydreaming in a lunchroom.
On a fifteen minute break.
At a 9 to 5 job.
Paying fifty cents more per hour.
Than minimum wage.

Pretensions.
Created at the expense of nonsense.
Profitable nonsense.
Fed to feed an ongoing feasting,
On frivolous addicting trivia.
Today so mundane and ridiculous.
Although...
Not too many will be heard to admit,
Being seen standing in line somewhere.
For two hours or more,
Hoping to sample the latest rage.
Rumored to be a horrible experience!
But a MUST HAVE to explain,
How one feels when left with the effect.

'I was told how much many hated it.
But 'that' I had to experience for myself.
And I waited and waited for hours.'

'For the effect?'

'No.
There had to have been,
Hundreds of people.
Protesting and complaining,
About their quality of life being ruined.
However...
Wanted to discover for themselves,
The method that was used.
To allow themselves to evaluate the effects,
Privately and in their own homes.
Before deciding what the benefits may be!'

'What sense does that make?'

'After standing in line for 5 hours myself,
I came to the same conclusion.
How much more nonsense can nonsense get,
To have one realize...
Nonsense is nonsense and that's it.
It is impossible to wax the rust off a car.
To then expect the engine of that car,
Making sounds as if a purring cat!
Never to look at or inspect with interest,
How that is done to keep everything running...
As if brand new.
That ain't gonna happen.
While standing in line.
Being lied to AND to know it!'
