Tubs Tarnish

Tubs, of RTE presenters' aristocracy,
Tarnished by understated payments you see,
Once admired, now questioned with scrutiny,
Transparency demanded, no secrecy,
Trust eroded, reputation in debris,
Treading carefully, amidst the controversy.

In the limelight, his charisma did shine,
But hidden dealings cast a shadow on his fame,
Allegations of impropriety, now a stain,
Whispers of favors exchanged for personal gain,
The public's trust now hangs in the balance,
As Tubs tarnish leaves listeners in silence.

Tubs, how did you fall so low?
From a pedestal into the depths of doubt,
The truth must be revealed, no room for clout,
Restoring faith, a long and arduous route,
Transparency and integrity must prevail,
To salvage what's left, before all else fails.

Tubs, of RTE presenters' aristocracy,
Seek redemption, for your tarnished legacy,
With open hearts, the public long for your humility,
Rebuild the trust, restore listeners loyalty,
From ashes rise, the phoenix of integrity.

About this poem

A follow on from a previous poem RTE Rogues. Mr. Tubridy, identified in reports, unfortunately, is in the cross hairs of the RTÉ secret payment scandal related to events from late June 2023 onwards when Ireland's main public service broadcaster RTÉ first disclosed previously unknown payment arrangements. The saga is ongoing even in spite of audit reports that reveal no blame on him, perhaps the man lacks humility and not aligning with the new order taking place at the top of RTE.
