She Waits

She waits beside a busy road
And all the time she's there,
The people only pass her by
Because they do not care

How long she's had to wait with hope
That someone will be kind
Enough to help her leave this place
Of loneliness behind.

What things could be so bad at home
To make her leave this way
And face so much uncertainty
That won't soon go away?

The answers that she hopes to find
May not be at her home,
But life can be more harsh for those
Who wander all alone.
