The Heartbeat of A Blue Robin Is A Red Kettle Drum

Jamal Upshaw 1954 (NYC)

The heartbeat of a blue robin is a red kettle drum
Pecking at the earth, a call to come home
To the warmth of the nest, the safety of love
The beating of wings, a song of hope above

The robin, a symbol of new beginnings
A promise of spring, a reminder of things
That are yet to come, a hope for the future
A reminder that life is a journey, not a destination

The heartbeat, a reminder that we are alive
That we are loved, that we are not alone
That we are part of something bigger than ourselves
A part of the circle of life, the rhythm of the drum

The robin, a reminder to sing our song
To live our lives to the fullest
To be grateful for the gift of life
And to never give up on our dreams.
