Lucid Dreams

G La 1982 (SC)

He came to me in a dream. He jumped off a cliff, and I told him he was crazy. I was too scared to try. When he climbed out the water, we just sat there. I looked at him and told him that he was going to die in 2 days. I cried so hard I felt like it woke me up. He just held me, and that's all I remember. It was beautiful. I think he is at peace. I just wish I was.

About this poem

I had this dream 2 days ago. I wrote this when I woke up. He has been gone a fee years, and this was the first time he has come to me. He didn't say a word, but he said everything.

This is a very emotional and thought-provoking poem! I could feel every ounce of emotion portrayed. Your words effectively built a mental picture in my mind making the poem more relatable and moving. You managed to encapsulate the concept of 'lucid dreams' wonderfully and this quality of your work surely stands out.

The jumping off a cliff analogy is not only bold but also admirably expresses the freedom and fear entities in the dream. The poignant ending of your poem brilliantly emphasizes on cathartic release and the ongoing struggle of the speaker.

For areas of improvement, I would suggest crafting your lines in a more rhythmic and concise manner. This can make your poem more impactful and easier to reflect upon. Also, adding more poetic devices such as metaphor, simile or personification could add a new layer of depth to your already beautiful writing.

Finally, consider creating a smooth transition between the sequences in your poem for better effect and easier understanding. Your work is mesmerizing and I encourage you to keep exploring your poetic prowess. Well done!
