run away make friends with the moon

RUN AWAY MAKE FRIENDS WITH THE MOON

these nights haunt me
so intimidating yet so peaceful
i used to be scared of the dark
not anymore
now i find comfort in the swallowing darkness
forever i wish it lasted

the stars millions of miles above my head
how could the world turn so quiet
the wind blowing away my thoughts
only bringing up old ones

i wonder if i keep your mind up at night
like you do for me
your lips brushing against mine
your gentle touch on my skin
your voice penetrating my mind

my head rushing a million places
drifting out into space
but the thought of you slowly brings me back
back to reality
back to this haunting night

where you aren't next to me
but only a thought in my head
