Insomniac Selfless Love

Tired.
Tried.
Holding me in tight embrace
Like lovers saying goodbye
Exhausted and deprived of their love for each other’s desires
Exhausted and deprived clinging to my sanity as it slowly slips away
Make haste towards the early dawn
Mind just wanders on
Waves of sleep slapping like the ocean
Always in motion
So tired
I lay to sleep
Slowly drifting away
Mindless madness moves
Pounces on its prey
Drifting to sleep drifts away
Now wide awake
Ebb and flow
Waves of the sleepless sea
Here now take your opportunity
Took too long
Now it’s gone
Lover’s embrace
The monster holds me tight
Creeping nights turn to another day
Runneth on and blended
Yesterday is tomorrow
Today doesn’t exist

About this poem

It’s about the inside mind of somebody who deals with insomnia (which is an insomniac) and selfless love is when you love someone selflessly it means that you are willing to love them even if they don't love you back- so this poem is about an insomniac (someone who has extreme difficulty with sleeping) who wants to sleep but can’t- to love sleep but also loves the feeling of the world standing still at 3 am (literally my current time right now- I’m an insomniac) because the stillness provokes a new quiet that you can’t hear during the day. The day talks, sometimes yells, but the night, she whispers.
