I Wonder

Jamilla Mozelle 1989 (USA)

I wonder if you would have made that remark

Had you known it would send my anxiety through the roof?

Did you know that I already wondered that about myself?

That I fight the demons of comparison and insignificance every moment of every day.

Just to sing Post Malone "Sunflower" on the ride to school

Only to have that gray cloud that follows me burst as soon as he is safely inside

Because I refuse to burden him with what burdens me

I wonder if you knew, would you still have made that remark?

Or would you just smile and appreciate how I still manage to keep him healthy, physically and mentally despite everything I go through

The sad part is that you probably still would have.

Jamilla Mozelle

Jamilla is a native of Atlantic City, NJ who discovered her love for books and writing at the early age of nine. Her countless hours of writing short stories and poetry was nothing more than venting up until she was published for the first time in 2014. Since then she has written 5 books one of which is a high recommended trilogy and has started her own publishing company, House of Leghaci. Jamilla says the power behind her success and her inspiration is her loving relationship with God whom directs her steps and her family, who keep her grounded and are her biggest supporters. “When you have a love like this behind you, how can you fail?" more…
