I was the Sun

Isabella Morgan 2007 (Brighton)

He was but a boy
So innocent and kind
The world was cruel to him
But pure divine was how he was designed
A boy with chains of wax
Like that which melted down his back
Scars dripping down his skin
A bird whose wings tortured him
When the sight of freedom
So bright and unrefined
A hope hidden behind a mask of humankind
So I watched him laugh and soar and fly
I was the sun and I watched him die.
