Ellipsis...

Tlotliso Letsoalo 2007 (Limpopo, Polokwane)

Ellipsis...

Her laughter lights me up brighter than the morning star
Her angelic voice travels from my ears to echo in my heart
Her eyes sparkle like stars on the darkest of nights.

She is a star brighter than the sun
She is an eagle defying all odds
She is infinity in one but sincerely, she is one in Infinity

It was time to say goodbye, well there was nothing good in it
I walked to her in fear then like a vapor I disappeared.

After realizing I won't see her after a long time,
My heart broke into a million pieces
And now with band aids and stitches.

This cannot be solved by excersise or meditation
This is not a simple solve for X equation.

To this day my heart is in a chronically condition
I should have vaccinated
I am hungry for a cure.

I try to have a conversation with myself but it ends up being an altercation.

I'm not angry I'm just in pain.

I tried and cried to scream for help but my inner voice wouldn't let my outer voice take over
I had enough when I this gonna be over.

Stranded in the ellipsis punctuation...

All I want is a conclusion.

About this poem

This poem is based off of a real life experience. It is about a student not being able to give their goodbye to her primary school teacher as she is going to high school because she were so hurt by the fact that they might not ever see each other agian. The student decided to turn away and simply leave without doing something she should have done. She soon realised that it was a bad idea not to and so she spent her life with the fear that she would never see her again. This created a negative build up that her heart could not bear anymore and so it broke. She now lives with the hope of seeing her favourite beloved teacher once again to simply say goodbye. And so she is stranded in the ellipsis punctuation longing for a conclusion (a full stop).

Tlotliso Letsoalo

I am a spoken word artist and have been for quite a very long time. I started poetry from a very young age where i would simply recite my favourite poems at school functions. I started writting my own poems when we were given a poetry assignment in Grade 9. This really helped me discover the talent that I have and the emotions I had embedded within from my life experiences. I love poetry and i express myself through it almost every single day. I hope to become a world renowned poet and grow to be known for my work. more…
