The Sound Of Blue

Charles Edward York 1966 (Saigon, Vietnam)

The Sound Of Blue

The sound of blue echoes with grief
An injured soul of the unexpected
Suffers trauma no one can afford
For no one invites pain
Anymore than bare feet
Embraces fire or burning asphalt.

Scars have a way of wearing out
The memories of flesh and bone
Eating emotions raw
They consume genuine joy
Ruining the remains by running
Sanity beneath a runaway train.

The funeral dirge of the mind drowns
Open wounds with salt and sulfur
Torturing the afflicted with troubles
No one hears or seems willing to
The sound of blue echoes the sore
As a muzzle that deafens the roar.
