Nuraan

Sulayman Killian 1978 (Johannesburg)

You swim the waters of this place that I’m in,
In the shallow I see your beautiful gaze
I watch you swim away with your hypnotic ways.
A glimpse of your eyes leaves me gripped from within

You fear to leave the water, your known environment.
Your known safe place of encumberment
Where others would drown, you hide away.
I’m standing on the shore wasting more time than a day.

Do you think it’s a crime this wasting of time
You in the water and me on the shores
Choose to be mine
So that I can be yours
