HOLD ON LIFES CALLING ME

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

Did you come to fight to lose or fight to win? We all are living our sins with our backs running against the wind. The summer night's skin looks like it is on fire, or maybe I am sunburned from sitting outside too long. Let me ride with you on this tide with its waves crashing against the jetties and my mind.

I walk this shell and sand-covered beach, knowing that every dream I had and every star I ever wished upon as a young child is now within my reach.

The waters of the deep blue sea call me like they always do to come back to cleanse myself of the worries that still frighten me. My feet are getting wet, and I soon forget what I thought I was, but it could never be a reflection that never again can be me.

Setting down by the sea, I realize that I can not sit in the past nor stand in the future; I can only walk through the doors and the walls of the present because if I dwell in any other place, I might miss my life calling.
