Indirect Lessons

Throughout my life I have known strife
And did the best I could.
I never knew just what to do
Or if such things were good.

My teenage years had many fears.
I thought that I was shy.
Psychology helped me to see
The truth that will not die.

I learned three thing that often brings
The past to me once more.
A love for reading, not misleading
From the things I've loved before.

My parents gave that love I crave
As well as music too.
I also got what was not sought,
Self-loathing as I grew!
