If Dogs Ruled the World

If Dogs Ruled The World ©

If dogs did rule this wondrous world
Would it be a better place
My brain cells titillated
My heart begins to race

So how exactly would it change
Dear earth we cherish so
If canines took the reign in life
Truly only the doggies know

But I will surmise and plant a seed
Of what I think it would be
If Poodle, Corgi and Bassett Hound
Did rule over you and me

Unconditional love would surely reign
With Pooches leading the way
Care less they would of race, color or creed
By their rules you’d have to play

No tolerance there’d be for greed nor hate
For dogs it’s just not their thing
Instinctive therapy for any and all
Each day to you they’d bring

No insurance needed for hugs and licks
That mend a hurting soul
Blood pressure no longer soaring high
Stress no longer would take its toll

For canine crews would guarantee
Your priorities in life were healthy
They’d divvy their love and affection to all
Be you poor or uber-wealthy

I know, I know this schmaltz you think
Is all so full of itself
You know it can never happen
So just store it away on a shelf

100% I agree with you
I know it could never be
But maybe just maybe one thing we can do
And I know the doggies would all agree

We can choose to give love unconditionally
We can choose to stop hating the unknown
We can choose to live more like that loving dog
We can choose compassion to be our doggie bone

We can choose to give a nice belly rub
When our loved ones are feeling pain
We can choose to not let small things in life
Drive us so verily insane

Just like a dog we can choose to share
Affection with all creatures we meet
For we’re all in this mess together in life
Love shared can be our milk bone treat

The dogs I have known and met in this world
Taught a lesson about how we should live
If happiness is what you seek in this realm
Then kindness you’ll need to give

For Dachshunds, French Bulldogs and Mutts galore
Have magic to selflessly give
So let us all dedicate and celebrate
And like doggies with kindness let’s live
