have you ever seen a face
that was so alight with joy,
your whole world became blurred,
just looking at it?

her face is like that.
her eyes are full of kindness and innocence unfounded anywhere else.
her smile speaks love without saying anything at all.

i remember her rosy cheeks and auburn hair.
that's what made her "Jane".
i remember her laughter, the most joyous sound I've ever heard,
filling the room and erasing the world's troubles.

i remember singing to you when I first held you,
how you smiled with your eyes closed,
a meeting of souls.
you were mine and i was yours.

how could i ever forget you?
you're always in my dreams.
sometimes i can still feel the rough texture of your onesie,
and the grip from your small hand.
the weight of your head as you slept in my arms.
the subtle vibrations of you walking towards me,
jumping onto me and showering me with kisses.

you didn't crawl on your knees like everyone else.
you got on all 4's and bear-crawled, and how fast you were!
up the stairs too!

whenever you cried, it felt like my heart was breaking.
i just wanted to see you smile again.
i would do anything for that smile.
you still have it.
you're still you.
i'm so grateful.
