Precious Blood

M.F. Waseem 1953 (Milford, CT)

Free verse
They say that life in in the blood
pulsing through arteries and veins
bringing sustenance as it would
without which the body dies.

When poured out on the ground
turns from scarlet red to brown
the stench of corruption
in nostrils all round.

One blood alone flowed
bringing undying life to any
that received its' power
by faith in the One who gave it.

About this poem

Life is in the blood, without it we die.Only a shell remains decaying returning to the earth from which it came.
