Dream Instead

Dream Instead

When you lie down to rest tonight
Instead of sleeping dream
Go on a trip to somewhere far away
It’s okay to imagine yourself
Living a different life
Speaking words
As if they were wheels
Taking you on a journey
Flying towards
A fantasy far, far away
Blasting off into space
Reaching for the stars
From the celestial shores of
The cosmic ocean.

Dream instead of a better world
A place where the Sun
Shines on everyone in shadows
Where no one is forgotten
Without walls or
Barbed wire fences
And everybody eats for sure
Inside a decent home
Because sleep is not awakened
Closed eyes resembles
Minds and hands
Locked up and away
Wake up and dream alive
The colors you want to live in.

Oh my lovely, beautiful darling be
The one I wish for come true
You so bright and sanguine
The joy who mirrors
My precious own
Take my hand so sure
Let us leave so far behind
All those tears and
Kiss the future
Embrace the change within
Write our play in new verse
Fashion a different life
Dream instead of love
So real forever between us.
