How life goes...

lilian_o 2001 (Nairobi)

Growing up just a happy kid
Not worried ,bothered or stressed
Ever happy with a  smile so wide
Making lots of memories widely

Clock ticked and
Every little moment things changed
From kindergarten with a lotta dreams
To campus almost giving up

Staying away from  family
Depending on yourself solely
Miles and miles away
Surviving on one meal a day
Or staying full day angry

No one to offer a helping hand
Parents struggling to get fees paid
Giving thanks to Jah everyday
Next minute you fumble
You gotta collect yourself up
And
Keep going

Breathe a sigh of relief
Pick yourself up
Be at ease and
Start over again!

Cause you got promises to keep
And miles to go before you sleep
Until you make it count in a steep
What else could I have done
So strong is human heart
To bear!
Until they make it.

About this poem

I wrote this poem as part of memories of what I went through during my schooling time and also in honour of those who have gone through the same but kept the fire burning.
