A Rainbow of Her Body

reaching into her chest she rips out her heart
the blood rushes out in shades of the sun
spilling all over her bedsheets and teddy bears
dying them versions of yellow and orange
grasping at her chest she pulls out her lungs
and with them shades of blue and grey
adding variety to the otherwise dull room
ripping into her flesh she takes out her veins
which hold the greens and purples
spraying onto her walls
she unapologetically paints them like she used to when she was young
tearing into her neck she unattaches her throat
shooting fireworks of red and grey
spotting the horizon with decay
and when she goes to breathe she has no lungs
the air rushes out of her like the air in her ac unit that won’t shut off
when she tries to talk she cannot speak
her throat shredded like the pieces of paper from thousands of old school assignments
her blood leaks to the floor
with no veins to carry it the blood splatters all over her bathroom sink
what a mess that cannot be cleaned up
and when she wants to love she cannot
for to love there needs to be a heart
and she has none
so the girl lays in a pool of her own demise
painting the ground rainbow
