The Devoted Parents
They gave me life
They gave me love
They gave me food
They gave me shelter
Why wasn't it enough
Why did I cry
Why did I sulk
Why did I despair
They gave me happiness
They gave me meaning
They gave me education
They gave me moral support
Why wasn't it enough
Why did I show frustration
Why did I show Anger
Why did I show a lack of appreciation
Now that they are gone
To their heavenly abode
I can only pray to the Almighty
That they see my love
That they see my gratitude
That they see my sorrow
For they are my Devoted Parents.
About this poem
I dedicate this poem to my late parents who I took for granted always and realized too late how much I needed to reciprocate.
