The Darkest of Days

The Darkest of Days
That day the phone call came for me to rush to your side
I immediately was filled with emotions that I couldn't hide
When I arrived so many loved ones eyes were filled with tears
I made my way through your house with this gut wrenching fear
Afraid I was too late, and my last words you wouldnt get to hear.
My mind raced as I tried to decide what I was going to say
knowing that after this I wouldn't see you and other day
I walked over and took your fragile hand into mine as i held tight
I couldnt find the words and I fought to hold back tears with all my might
I knew I wouldnt have another chance to hear you laugh or see you smile
I would never be able to say I will be over in just little while.
I was flooded with tears as I leaned over to tell you goodbye
I couldnt hold back the tear no matter how hard I tried
I kissed your cheak and told you I loved you more that you knew
I held tight then I stormed away as the anger inside me grew.
I went outside in a rush angry and hurt to see my other aunt was too
What I had hoped was an awful dream I then knew it was all true
As my aunt threw things, she very angrily screamed out WHY
Why does it have to be her, TELL ME WHY as she let out a sigh..
Not long after we had finally calmed her and got her to sit down,
my cousin came out the back door so hurt he collapsed to the ground
We knew right then in that very moment that you had let go
You hung on strongly for all of the ones you loved to get to you
Life here without you has been dark and blue.
Its almost been 7 years that you have been walking beside me
I know you are there,I can feel you, even though I can not see
I sometimes hear you say my name that only you are allowed to say
Nobody on this planet can call me that until this day.
I know you are in a much better place and are happy and free
The day you were called home you took a HUGE piece of me!!!!!
