It's Easier

Rhymed
It's easier to turn away
Than look at anyone who may
Be handicapped because we feel
It makes the pain of life too real.

A simple movement of the head
Can change the view we see instead
Of letting them see us react
To those whose lives are handicapped.

Yes, it is easy not to care
And act as if they were not there,
But would you lack concern the day
A child of yours became that way?

    Shakespeare famously say, 'To be or not to be." In the world of today one should say, "To see or not to see, that is the question." Should we see though this may cause anguish or discomfort" Or should we ignore and live our lives the best we can? This is something to think about. Of course, one could not live any happy life it all one's time would be spent crying or worrying for the hurt, the poor, the sick, the blind, the down.. Life would become unbearable.
    Your poem opens a whole field of questioning.
