The Lady of Light

The Lady of Light is present and precise.
She reigns in the stars and planets above;
Only, to eradicate the fires on the earth below,
Enlightening all beings with her passionate tears.

The Lady of Light is present and precise.
She sails into war torn lands on rivers
And both sides lay their arms on the earth,
Bringing life over death with her apt boldness.

The Lady of Light is present and precise.
She obliterates the shackles of the meek;
Propelling them into a placid land called freedom,
Granting loving liberties over fragile insecurities.

The joyful and the sorrowful,
The outcasts and the insiders,
The truth seekers and the ignorant,
Rest on the shoulders of the Lady of Light.

About this poem

This was a poem written during a fascinating phase of my life. I was around eighteen years of age, and very intrigued by spiritualties from other cultures. The works of Joseph Campbell and other intellectuals were on my reading list. Furthermore, this poem reflects on the divinity of the feminine. The Shakti tradition worships the feminine forces of nature, along with many other cultures.
