Save Us From the Dark

Charlie Shaffer 1959 (Chelsea Mass.)

May 23

I write this poem in the darkness of the night,
With pen in hand and by candlelight
As I look into flame,
I feel loneliness and fear
For if the flame should die,
I wonder will you still be here
Now if you choose to go,
Remember it only takes a spark
To get the flame to burn again,
And save us from the dark

About this poem

My girlfriend decided our timing was wrong , so we split up. I wrote this poem to let her know when she is ready we can rekindle our love and see it in a whole new light.
