Proud Sinner

I don't think i'll ever get accustomed to their stares,

They call us so many different names

without hesitation or care.

For our feelings are invalid to them,

And people claim the times have changed

"Things aren't as bad as they once were",

So we should be grateful for that.

The suffering of those before us isn't something,

For which we should clap.

Nevertheless what are we supposed to?

Conform to society and their "idealistic" beliefs?

Those are merely perceptions of the ignorant, you see.

There is no shame in loving whom we please...

And often persons say its a "choice"

Not a genuine emotion we are allowed to feel.

I say, to hell with them and their bigotry!

Love is for all...

Including you and me.

So don't you feel guilty about living your life,

Express yourself and shine oh so bright!

For darling we are ethereal creatures you and me.

And if loving a woman makes me a sinner,

Then a proud one I shall be.
