Fallen soldier

A true hero will journey,
When the time finally arrives,
Fighting for our nation,
To save American lives,
Traveling so far away,
Leaving his family behind,
As much as he loves them,
He must clear his mind,
Seven deployments,
With this being number eight,
As much pain as it would cause,
God has chosen his fate,
Back in the rear,
His wife sobs at night,
Trying So desperately,
To keep the tears out of sight,
Unbeknownst to her,
The pain would be to great,
Seven trips overseas,
His last is number eight,
Notification of her loss,
Would shatter her heart,
The fragile pieces of her family,
Suddenly missing a part,
How does she tell her children,
About the pain they will feel,
They say time closes the wound,
But it will never properly heal,
The love of her life,
Proceeds gently off the plane,
She drapes over his coffin,
Trying desperately to maintain,
Uncontrollable tears,
Is to much to bear,
Her family walks over,
And envelops her with care,
My husband is home,
No longer will he have to fight,
I am confident That God,
Has guided him to the light,
Rest in Peace now Shawn,
My one true love,
Your are resting with the angels,
In the heavens above.
